Denise Rodgers told lawmakers at a hearing in Newark that work was ongoing to merge some of the University of Medicine and Dentistry’s most successful pieces with Rutgers University by summer.
“There is a desire by the governor’s office to meet that deadline,” Rodgers said.
Governor Christie’s office has been publicly mum on a timetable for the reorganization, its costs, and the manner in which it would happen. It has stuck to the tight-lipped strategy even as legislators held hearings, and public officials, employees and members of the public asked for details.
